Margaret Mary "Peg" (Link) Schobert, 44, of Waukon, Iowa, died unexpectedly at her home of an apparent heart attack on Sunday, January 13, 2008. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 16th at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a scripture service at 4:00 pm. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon.
Margaret Mary "Peg" (Link) Schobert was born on January 23, 1963, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Tony and Theresa (Kelleher) Link. She was baptized at St. Patrick Catholic Church. After graduating from Waukon High School she attended Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar for cosmetology and business.
She was united in marriage to LeRoy "Tim" Schobert on March 28, 1987. The couple was blessed with two children, Bridget Ann on April 17, 1986 and Anthony John on May 26, 1989. The couple later divorced. Jessica Lynn Sharrock was born on July 14, 1993 to Jerry Sharrock and Margaret. On December 14, 1999 she met her life partner, Steve Fritz, along with his daughter Karissa Rose.
Peg enjoyed reading and camping, playing darts, cards and pool with her friends and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed animals, especially her dogs Holly, Lucy and Zack. Her children's needs always came first and she was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Peg was a very generous and giving person who was loved by all.
Survivors include three children, Bridget Schobert of Decorah, Tony Schobert of Prairie du Chien and Jessica Sharrock living at home, along with her significant other Steve Fritz and daughter Karissa of Waukon. Also surviving are her parents, Tony and Theresa Link of Waukon; brothers, Bob Link and Paul (Betty) Link of Waukon; a sister, Lori (Larry) Soukup of Ridgeway. Nieces and nephews include: Erin Pfiffner and fiancé Tyler Plein, Amy Pfiffner, Megan & Landon Soukup, Brittany & Brady Link. Special friends include Jim & Jane Brandt, Lori & Paul Rilling and many more aunts, uncles and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Mildred Kelleher and Elmer & Eleanor Link.
Honorary casketbearers are Heather and Brett Hermanson, Lori Rilling, Mary and Eric Beebe, Sherrie Hunstad, Brittany and Brady Link, Erin and Amy Pfiffner, Tyler Plein and Meagan and Landon Soukup. Casketbearers are Rich Howes, Paul Rilling, Cary Hermanson, Matt Sinclair, Kelly Cook and Gil Hunstad.
