Marcella Adeline Selberg

Marcella A. Selberg, 93, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9th, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Wayne Ellingson and Pastor Keith Selberg officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until time of services at the church on Saturday. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakland Cemetery in Waukon.

Marcella Adeline (Kolsrud) Selberg was born March 20, 1925, in Waterville, IA, the daughter of Sidney and Martha (Gulrud) Kolsrud. She was baptized April 13, 1925, and confirmed July 3, 1938, at Waterville Lutheran Church. Marcella attended Waterville Elementary School and graduated from Waterville High School in 1942, where she was active in band, chorus, drama, and athletics. On December 28, 1952, she married Paul Selberg at Waterville Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children: Kevin, Kyle, and Nyla. They farmed together on the Selberg family farm for 57 years, where they raised dairy cows, beef cattle, and hogs.

Marcella was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church and its ladies circles, altar guild, and served on many other committees. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, baking, reading, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends. Marcella loved her grandchildren and was always interested in all of their activities. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include her children: Kevin (Judy) Selberg of Waukon, Kyle Selberg of Riverside, IA, and Nyla (Keith) Kennard of Coppell, TX; seven grandchildren: Erik Selberg, Laura (Jason) Timler, Paul and Andrew Selberg, Katharine (David) Rosenthal, and Aaron and Nathan Kennard; one great-granddaughter Amelia Timler; and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul, who died in 2009; a great-granddaughter Ella Grace Timler; and her father and mother-in-law Fred and Nettie Selberg.

Honorary casketbearers are Katharine Rosenthal and Laura and Amelia Timler. Casketbearers are Erik, Paul, and Andrew Selberg, Aaron and Nathan Kennard, Jason Timler, and David Rosenthal.
