Marcella C. Geuder, 96, of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8th at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing, IA. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Marcella Carrol Halverson was born December 25, 1909 in Lansing, IA, to Carl and Luella (Christianson) Halverson. She attended rural schools for three years and then Lansing Public School, graduating from Lansing High School in 1928. She then attended two years at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA with a teaching degree. Marcella enjoyed teaching and spent three years in rural schools in Allamakee County, ten years in the Guttenberg, IA public schools, and twenty-nine years in the Waukon, IA public schools, for a total of forty-two years of teaching.
Marcella Halverson and Ewald Geuder of Guttenberg, IA were married November 25, 1943 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon. Both of them were very much interested in the work of their church and participated in Sunday School, choir, youth groups and served on other activity boards.
Survivors include a niece, Carol (David) Fenstermann of Colesburg, IA; a cousin, Verna Samb of Waukon; special families David (Rose) Olson of Minneapolis, MN and Rollie (Mary) Natvig of Princeton, MN; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ewald, who died in 1986; and an infant brother.
Casketbearers are Carlton Christianson, David Olson, Rollie Natvig, David Fenstermann, George Ferring and Russell Loven.
