Lucille C. Reese, 90, of Waukon, Iowa, passed away on September 25, 2006 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
Lucille Charlotte Greiser was born to Charles Greiser and Emma (Young) Greiser on November 25, 1915 in Lansing, Iowa. She spent her early childhood on the family farm adjacent to the "Stern" hill area of Churchtown. She was a 1933 graduate of Lansing (Iowa) High School. Lucille was married to Harris M. Kolsrud of Waterville, Iowa in 1934 for ten years, residing most of those years in Davenport, Iowa. During the ensuing years, she owned and Operated "Lucille's Top Spot", a popular restaurant and bar in downtown Davenport. In 1948 she married Alvin Reese of Davenport and moved briefly to California. A short time later, Lucille and her husband Alvin moved back to Iowa where they owned and operated a small bar and restaurant south of DeWitt, Iowa and Fairyland Dance Park knows as "Grambril". A few years later they moved back to Arlington, California where Lucille worked as a hostess for several years for a large restaurant chain. She spent the last 13 years in California working in the x-ray department of the Loma Lind Medical Center.
In 1982, after the death of her husband Alvin, Lucille retired and moved back to Iowa to be close to the family and to care for her mother. She resided in Waukon and spent considerable time serving as a driver for Senior Citizens in Waukon. She enjoyed helping others. She especially enjoyed making holiday corsages; selling many and giving many away as gifts. Playing cards and dancing was a weekly favorite. Lucille was always very active in the local Democratic Party and she was always so proud of the invitation that she received to attend a National President's Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Donald and Judy (Reter) Kolsrud of Clinton, Iowa and Charles and Danelda (Yohe) Kolsrud of Sun City West, Arizona; Three grandchildren, Ann Kolsrud of Clinton, Iowa, Kelli Kolsrud of New Berlin, Wisconsin and Kyle and his wife Mary (Rader) Kolsrud and their two children, Erik and Catherine, of Litchfield Park, Arizona.
Private family interment of Lucille's ashes was held September 30th at Lansing Ridge Cemetery in rural Lansing, Iowa, with Rev. Richard Eick officiating.
