Lucille A. Ludeking, 91, of Waukon, IA, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18th, at 11:00 AM at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon, IA, with Pastor Judy Scheer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 - 7:00 PM Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.


Lucille Amelia Ludeking was born August 22, 1916 in Ludlow Township rural Waukon, IA. Her parents were Herman and Emma (Lange) Snitker. Lucille was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon and attended rural Ludlow #4 country school. On April 16, 1944 she married Lloyd Leonard Ludeking at Salem United Church of Christ. They farmed together in Ludlow Township from 1944 until the death of Lloyd in 1978. Lucille also did housekeeping for area families in the Waukon and Decorah area. She moved to Waukon in 1979. She was a lifetime member of Salem United Church of Christ, where she was active in its ladies aid. Lucille enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, embroidering, working word search puzzles, watching TV and collecting hand painted cups and saucers. She also enjoyed traveling to see her family and spending time with friends. Her favorite times were being around little children.

Survivors include her children, Ritchie (Sandra) Ludeking of Seaville, NJ and Suzanne Ludeking of Waukon, IA; 2 granddaughters, Tammy (Jay) Davis and their children, Elizabeth, Jackie and Jacob; and Heather (Jason) Wertzberger and their son, Noah; a sister, Rebecca Hendrickson of McGregor, IA a brother, Willard (Esther) Snitker of Postville, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; 3 brothers, Roland, Raymond and Wesley Snitker.

Casketbearers are Grant, Gale, Gordon, Curtis and Cleone Snitker and Robert Schultz.
