Louis A. Weymiller, 80, of Waukon, IA, formerly of New Albin, IA, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. A sharing time will be held Saturday, March 31st, at 1:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Friends may call from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday at Martin Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to New Albin Community Center, Veterans Memorial Hospital or Robey Memorial Library.
Louis Armistice Weymiller was born November 11, 1931 in New Albin, IA, the son of Frank C. and Mariam (Tabatt) Weymiller. He graduated from New Albin High School where he never missed a day of school throughout his 12 years of schooling. Louis served in the United States Army from 1952 until 1953 during the Korean War, where he received several combat medals. After returning home from the service he attended Iowa State University. In 1958 Louis returned home to help on the family farm with his father and brother, Doc. On March 21, 1970 he married Caryn Chapman at Wesley Methodist Church in La Crosse, WI. Together they farmed in rural New Albin raising beef cattle and corn. Louis took great pride in his cattle, his father and grandfather also raised livestock buying and selling them throughout their lives. His nephew Dave Weymiller started farming with him in 1982 until he retired in 1997. Louis and Caryn enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home in rural New Albin. They also enjoyed spending many winters in Florida. Louis enjoyed spending time in the outdoors especially deer hunting with family and friends. They moved to Waukon in 1996.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years Caryn of Waukon, a brother, Franklin "Doc" (Jean Ann) Weymiller of Harpers Ferry, IA; a sister, Ruth Ann (Leon) Myhre of Caledonia, MN; a brother-in-law, Eber (Shirley) Chapman of La Crosse, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mary Lou Welper.
Honorary casketbearers are his nieces and nephews.
