Loretta M. Spores, 84, of New Albin, IA, died Monday, July 24, 2006 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27th at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services on Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Loretta May Spores was born on November 28, 1921 in rural Dorchester, IA, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Burroughs) Schultz. She was baptized at home by Pastor G.H. Kohler. Loretta worked on her parents farm as a young girl and lady. On December 10, 1949 she married Alfred A. Spores in Eitzen, MN. They farmed in rural Dorchester for many years where Loretta helped with all aspects of the farming operation. After Alfred's death in 1983 Loretta moved to New Albin. She was a past member of Dorchester Methodist Church. Loretta enjoyed taking care of her lawn, sewing and embroidering several different items which she shared with family and friends. She also enjoyed helping her neighbors.
Survivors include a sister, Esther Schultz of Waukon; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; a sister, Anna Spores; and 2 brothers, Wilford and Raymond Schultz.
