Lois H. Carpenter, 87, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 8th at 10:30 am at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating.

Lois Helen Carpenter was born on October 26, 1919 in Ashley, ND. Her parents were Fred and Vesta (Siekmeier) Carpenter. As a young girl she moved with her sister to Waukon where she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Sim and Mattie Ludeking. After graduating from Waukon High School, she attended business college at the University of Dubuque. She worked as a secretary for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 30 years before retiring in the early 1980s and moving back to Waukon.

Lois was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. She loved animals of all kinds but was especially fond of her pet cats. She also enjoyed family times, reading, following politics and having lunch with her sister May Lou at the S&D Cafe in Waukon.

Survivors include her sister, May Lou Kiesau of Waukon; a nephew, James (Jill) Kiesau of Waukon; a niece, Mary (Don) Ubben of Waterloo; and grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Fred; her mother Vesta; a brother, Ivan Carpenter; and a brother-in-law, Bud Kiesau.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.
