Lindy Annette Lewis

Lindy A. Lewis, 70, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Monday, October 15, 2018, at her home in Harpers Ferry. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20th, at 1:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA. with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Joseph's Paint Rock Cemetery, Harpers Ferry. Friends may greet the family from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Lindy Annette Lewis was born on August 4, 1948 in Beaver Dam, WI. Her parents were Melvin and Norma (Baum) Wille. Lindy grew up in the Horicon, WI, area and was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. She attended St. Stephen School for elementary and graduated from Horicon High School in 1966. Shortly after graduation she joined the U.S. Air Force seeing some of her duty at the SAC base in Bangor, ME. After her discharge in 1969 she returned to the Horicon area where she was first a secretary and then active in law enforcement before eventually becoming a deputy Clerk of Court for Dodge County. She married detective Ben Miller who preceded her in death in 1989. On July 24, 2009 she married Terry E. Lewis at Immaculate Conception Wexford Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, IA, where she and Terry have lived ever since.

Lindy enjoyed nature and everything about the outdoors. She loved all kinds of animals, liked to hunt deer and geese, and was and excellent target shooter. Keeping up with her old friends and high school classmates and going to their reunions was something she always looked forward to. She has very much enjoyed her life in Harpers Ferry with Terry and took an active role in all aspects of the farm. She had pride in caring for their dogs, her houseplants, and everything around the house and farm.

Survivors include her husband Terry of Harpers Ferry; her daughter Tyra Walters of Horicon, WI; step-children Tammie (Jeff) Cutre of Milbourne, FL, and Shane (Kathy) Lewis of North End, NC; grandchildren Rick and Ben Walters, Chase Cutre, and Kaitlen and Connor Lewis; and a sister Diane Miescke of Horicon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ben Miller, and a brother-in-law Tim Miescke.
