Linda Lou Sorum

March 9, 1941 — August 6, 2019

Linda L. Sorum, 78, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 13th, at 11:00 AM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Ronald Pederson officiating. Burial will be at East Paint Creek Synod Cemetery in rural Waterville, IA. Friends may call one hour before services on Tuesday at the funeral home.


Linda Lou Sorum was born March 9, 1941, in Spring Grove, MN, the daughter of Eben and Linda (Kerstein) Beardmore. She was baptized and confirmed at the old German Presbyterian Church in Lansing and graduated from Lansing High School in 1959. On September 11, 1964, she married Moris LaVerne Sorum at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They farmed together by the twin churches east of Waukon where they raised livestock, dairy cows, corn, hay, and farm cats. Linda enjoyed going to church and visiting with family and friends. She was member of East Paint Creek Synod Church in rural Waterville and a current member of King of Grace Lutheran Church in Waukon.


Survivors include her sister LaVonne Beardmore of New York, NY; a sister-in-law Anita Sorum of Waukon; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband LaVerne, who died in 2016; and a brother-in-law Burnell Sorum.
