Leo James Delaney, 84, of Tomball, TX, formerly of Lansing, IA, died Monday, December 18, 2023, at HCA Houston Healthcare in Tomball. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Wexford Catholic Church in rural Lansing with Fr. Sevcik officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Tuesday at Thornburg - Grau Funeral Home in Lansing, where there will be a 6:30 PM scripture service, and will continue one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Leo James Delaney was born July 12, 1939, at home in Lansing, IA, the son of Patrick and Evelyn (Mullarkey) Delaney. He was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wexford, rural Lansing, IA, and graduated from Lansing High School in 1957. Following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, eventually moving to Oklahoma, where he graduated from Oklahoma State Technical College with a drafting degree. While staying at a hotel, one day Leo saw a beautiful woman named Ruby Annette Webb, who would become the love of his life. On January 12, 1963, they married in Nashville, AR. Leo and Annette made their way to Texas and Leo worked for the Chevron pipeline as an area supervisor.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an umpire and referee for sporting events. Leo enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and playing cards, especially euchre. He was also an avid collector of various things. Leo also loved farming and spent a lot of time on the family farm on Lafayette Ridge. Leo was a great husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Annette of Tomball, TX; three children: Terri (Dave Pleasants) Walleser of Tarpon Spring, FL, Tina (Todd) Hogan of Janesville, WI, and Tim (Pam) Delaney of Lansing; nine grandchildren: Jessica, Jaclyn, Ashley, Brandy, Kyle, Brandon, Makayla, Josh, and Dylan: 11 great-grandchildren; and three brothers: George and Dan Delaney, both of Lansing, and Tommy Delaney of Plover, WI.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Bill, James, and Frank Delaney; and his mother and father-in-law Ilea and Alton Webb.
Leo's brothers will serve as honorary casketbearers. Casketbearers are Jesse, Ryan, and Glenn Delaney, Dylan and Joshua Walleser, and Aiden Hogan.
