Lawrence Larson

Lawrence I. Larson, 83, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Monday, May 11, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI. A celebration of life will be held at a later date along with a burial of ashes at Waterville Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, is assisting the family. Lawrence Ingvald Larson was born December 13, 1936, in Waterville, IA, the son of Ingvald and Clara (Ruess) Larson. He was baptized at Waterville Lutheran Church, confirmed at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, and attended country schools and Waterville School. On October 7, 1961, Lawrence married Joanne Arlene Iverson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, IA. He was the owner/operator of Larry's Custom Trucking, hauling hay and livestock. He also worked as a mechanic and farmed with his dear friend Orville Nelson.

Lawrence enjoyed fishing and took fishing trips to Waterville, MN. He loved visiting Branson, MO, and Alaska. He always had a joke to tell and liked playing cards. Lawrence also liked watching wrestling and RFD, listening to country western music and feeding the birds. His most cherished times were spent with his wife and family gathered around the dinner table, talking, eating, and making memories.

He is survived by his wife Joanne of Harpers Ferry, IA; his children: Larry (Ruth) Larson of Harpers Ferry, Laurie (Carrol) McCracken of Nevada, IA, Lisa (Alan) Schultz of Fairbanks, AK, Lynnette (Tom) Felkey of State Center, IA, and Pamela Larson of Waukon; 13 grandchildren: Larry Abrams, Jimmy Larson, Yvette Hardin, Kacey, Lukas, and Lars Larson, Sean and Jennifer McCracken, Heather Spencer, Heidi Schultz, Logan Fitchett, Matthew Larson, and Paige Mihm; 14 great-grandchildren: Ayden, Avery, and Austin Abrams, Madden Behel, Kylar Smed, Kaleb Matthews, Brylee Hardin, Keirra, Jace, and Trinity Spencer, Blake Schultz, Oaklyn Fitchett, Myah Larson, and Harbor Mihm; a brother Melvin Larson of Waukon; special sister-in-law Anna Larson of Prairie du Chien, WI; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dachshund Willie.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Virgil Larson, Norman Larson, Evangeline "Dolly" Georgeson, half brother Oliver Neuhring, and half sister Connie Roth.
