Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Gavin

Larry J. Gavin, 61, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 10th, at 11:00 AM at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 AM until time of services at the funeral home on Thursday.

Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Gavin was born January 25, 1962, in Waukon, IA, the son of Joseph and Mary Ann (Schulte Tierney) Gavin. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church and graduated from Waukon High School in 1980. On August 8, 1986, he married Chris Harris at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Larry was a meat cutter for several years and also managed Paddy McQ's Bar and Country County Clothing Store, both in Waukon.

Larry was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, and collecting Civil War era items.

Survivors include his wife Chris of Waukon; his children: Shea (Paige) Gavin of Waukon, Joe Gavin of Shell Rock, IA, and Alyssa (Jared Klingeman) Gavin of Waukon; three grandchildren: Harley, Francis, and Dorothy Gavin; his siblings: Tess Pladsen and Muggs (Francis) Berns, both of Waukon, Pat (Cindy) Tierney and Kate (Jeff) Tooke, both of La Crosse, WI, and Tom (Coni) Tierney and Sue Bennett, both of Waukon; a sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and his two dogs: Pixie and Shadow. He was preceded in death by parents; a brother-in-law Arlyn Pladsen; two nephews: Jeff Berns and Michael Tierney; a great-niece Charlie Belle Elmer; and his loving dog Shorty.

Honorary urnbearers are Gene Hitchcock, Mel Johnson, and Ron Steele.
