Larry Curtis

October 15, 1946 — December 19, 2023

Larry D. Curtis, 77, of Waukon, IA, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family.

Larry Dale Curtis was born October 15, 1946, in Brookfield, MO, the son of Arthur and Helen (Ross) Curtis. In 1955, the family moved to McGregor, IA, and Larry graduated from MarMac High School in 1963. He was diagnosed with epilepsy his senior year of high school, which limited his work until it was under control. In 1974, the family moved to Waukon and Larry worked at Northern Engraving until it closed.

He loved country music and was known for having hundreds of albums he listened to as much as he could. Larry also enjoyed traveling, visiting Nashville and Branson numerous times, and his favorite trip was to Hawaii in 1979. Never having children, Larry treated his niece and nephew as his own. Every trip he went on, he would come home with gifts and loved giving the biggest and best gifts for birthdays and holidays.

Larry is survived by his niece Kim (Brad) Yohe of Waukon and nephew Wes (Jennifer) Cole of Hiawatha, IA, and his great-nieces and nephews: Blake Troendle, Taylor (Logan) Donahue, Caitlin (Kody Monroe) Troendle, Parker Yohe, and Mason and Logan Cole.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol Cole.

The family would like to give special thanks to everyone at the Waukon Good Samaritan Center for the wonderful care given to Larry throughout the years.
