Kristine Ann Sweeney

Kristine A. Sweeney, 62, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, October 7, 2016, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI. Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 13th, at 11:00 AM at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Pastor Samantha Houser  officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Kristine Ann Sweeney was born December 3, 1953, in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Robert L. and Maureen (Smith) Stock. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. Kris graduated from Waukon High School in 1972, and attended NICC in Calmar for cosmetology. On June 12, 1976, she married Joe Sweeney at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon. Kris did daycare from her home for many years. For the past three years she has worked as a dietary cook at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.

Kris enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her seven grandchildren. She enjoyed the comforts of her home and creating a place where everyone felt welcomed. It was her kitchen table where so many gathered to visit and share laughter. It was also at that table where her hands did the work of creating crafts and those beautiful cakes that so many have enjoyed. Decorating and baking those cakes was her passion.

Survivors include her children: Sarah (Darin) Monroe of Decorah, Matthew (Jess Phillips) Sweeney, and Steven (Jessie) Sweeney, both of  Waukon; seven grandchildren: Creed, Gabe, Burke, and Dempsey Monroe, Raymond, Elliott, and Emmett Sweeney; her mother Maureen (Neil) Becker of Waukon; her siblings: Karla (Terry) Lubahn of Waukon, Steve (Kristine) Stock of Dorchester, Cari (Mike) A'Hearn, Mike (Sarita) Becker, and Tim (Mary) Becker all of Waukon. She is preceded in death by her father Robert L. Stock.

Honorary casketbearers are Kris's grandchildren.
