Kevin Floyd Emerson

Kevin F. Emerson, 65, of Dorchester, IA, died Monday, April 27, 2020, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, IA. The family will have a gathering at a later date at their farm in rural Dorchester. Condolences can be sent to Janice Emerson, 2626 Dead Horse Hollow Road Dorchester, IA 52140. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Kevin Floyd Emerson was born October 10, 1954, in La Crosse, WI, the son of Oliver and Emma "Chris" (Meiners) Emerson. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1972. On June 2, 1973, he married Janice Kumpf at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, IA. Kevin and Janice farmed in the Dorchester and Waterville, IA areas, where they raised crops and milked cows. They enjoyed taking trips to the Caribbean. Kevin was involved with the Republican Party at both the local and state levels.

Survivors include his wife Janice Emerson of Dorchester; his children: Angel (Jon) Shawda of Urbandale, IA, Matthew (Jessica) Emerson of Eitzen, MN, and James (Melynda) Emerson of Ames, IA; six grandchildren; one brother James "Joe" (Mary) Emerson of Waterville, IA; two sisters: Alice Lynne Hart of Florida and Diane (Tracy) Thompson of Forest City, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; a sister-in-law Sandra Emerson; and a brother-in-law Mike Hart.
