Kenneth L. Shogren, 85, of Waukon, IA, died on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 3rd, at 1:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Eddie Cabrera and Pastor Garry Birth officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 3:00-6:00 pm on Sunday at Martin Funeral Home.

Kenneth LeRoy Shogren was born on January 28, 1927, in rural Lansing, IA, the son of Alden and Agnes (Erickson) Shogren. He attended school at Center #3 in the Village Creek Township. When Kenneth was 16 years of age his father died, he helped his mother and uncle Salem on the farm in Center Township. On August 29, 1950, he married Lorraine Johnson at Village Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church in rural Lansing. They farmed together in rural Waukon, where they did general farming. In 1991, they moved in to Waukon. Kenneth was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as treasurer and a deacon for many years. He enjoyed gardening and working in the raspberry and strawberry patches on the farm. Kenneth liked his wife's canning, cheese puffs and pin wheels. He had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed watching TV, especially 3 Angels Broadcasting Network. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.


Survivors include his wife Lorraine Shogren of Waukon; his children, Susie (Eddie) Cabrera of Pleasant Hill, MO, Lorie (Jason) Hackman of Waukon and Dan (Lori) Shogren of Waukon; 5 grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Cabrera, Jenna and Steven Shogren and Haylee Hackman; a sister, Delores Schellhammer of Lansing; 2 brothers, Donald Gene (Joyce) Shogren of Waterville, IA and LaVern (Judy) Shogren of Marquette, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Harlan Schellhammer.

Casketbearers are Jerry and Cletus Sommer, Derrick, Terry and Dave Shogren, Larry and Lynn Schellhammer and Darwin Johnson.
