Kenneth "Fishe" R. Fish, Sr. 72, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died peacefully Monday, August 24, 2015, at his home from cancer, surrounded by his family and friends. Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 27th, at 11:00 AM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, with Deacon Pat Malanaphy officiating, Chaplin with Crossing Rivers Health. Burial with military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 305, at Smithfield Cemetery, rural Monona, IA. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Memorials may be directed to Crossing Rivers Hospice, Prairie du Chien, WI.


Kenneth Raymond Fish, Sr. was born October 5, 1942, in Moline, IL, the son of Raymond L. and Norma (Ziel) Fish. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1961, where he did his basic training at Camp Peldton, CA, and mechanical training for helicopters in Memphis, TN. Ken was stationed in Santa Anna, CA, before serving in Vietnam for 13 months with the 365th Squadron as a crew chief. He returned to the United States where Ken was stationed in Cherry Point, NC. On October 13, 1962, he married Patricia Ann Bray at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, IA. He attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Fishe worked for Alliant Energy for 40 years at Prairie Creek Power Station in Cedar Rapids and was the plant manager at the Lansing Power Plant in Lansing, IA.

Ken was a lifetime member of VFW Post 788 in Cedar Rapids and the American Legion 305 in Marquette, IA, where he served as commander for two terms. He was also a member of the Marine Corps Helicopter Association and enjoyed the many reunions held in various parts of the United States.

Fishe enjoyed going to NASCAR races with his family and friends, golfing, fishing, and hunting. He always looked forward to a good euchre or poker game with a little wager. Ken restored several old cars over the years. With the help of family and friends, he built their home on Hwy 76 and coordinated the building of his and Pat's home in Harper's Ferry.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years Patricia of Harpers Ferry, IA, two sons: Kenneth R. (Jodee) Fish, Jr., of Keller, TX, and Peter Wayne Fish of Woodward, IA; four grandchildren: Brittany N. Fish of Westwego, LA, Travis (Megan) Fish, Alexandra Fish, and Joseph Fish, all of Anamosa, IA; and a great-granddaughter Madison Fish of Anamosa, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jackie Fish.

Honorary casketbearers are Hal, Harley, Harry, Henry, Herman, and Howard Jones.
