Kenneth Joseph Fahey was born September 27, 1929, in Waukon, IA, the son of Joseph and Mary (Howes) Fahey. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, and attended P. Ridge country school through 8th grade before graduating from St. Patrick High School in 1948. After graduating, Kenny farmed on the Fahey family farm until being drafted into the US Army. From 1951-53, Kenny served in Korea, earning three bronze stars and the rank of sergeant. On December 27, 1951, he married Mary Catherine Bresnahan at St. Patrick Catholic Church. After returning home, he worked for Bresnahan Construction and continued farming, raising crops, cattle, and pigs. Farming was his passion and who he was. He loved working with the cattle and had been a past director of the Cattlemen's Association and a 4-H leader. Even after retiring, Kenny worked on Francis Stortz's farm until the age of 82.

Kenny was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and served two terms as the president of the parish council; he also had been president of the St. Patrick school board. Belonging to the VFW, Kenny served as treasurer and was active in the honor guard. He enjoyed traveling, especially internationally to Europe and Asia, and going fishing in Canada. An avid reader, he liked reading about history and keeping up with the news/current events and politics. He also enjoyed golfing. Kenny was quite the socializer, loving time spent with friends and also his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Kenny is survived by his wife Mary of Waukon; his children: Diane (Bob) Ernst of Estes Park, CO, Denise (Regi) Tysland of Waukon, Tim (Kris) Fahey of Waukon, Joe Fahey of Waukon, Kathy (Dave) Lensing of Waukon, Gary Fahey of Verona, WI, Sheila (Clark) Mellick of Waukon, Jill (Brent) Halverson of Waukon, and Kim (Roger) Bartelson of Altoona, IA; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother Keith (Frannie) Fahey of Waukon; and a sister Evelyn (Bill) Chapman of Tomah, WI.
