Kenneth J. Colsch, 49, of Dorchester, IA, died Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2nd, at 11:00 AM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 3:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.


Kenneth James Colsch was born August 6, 1959 in Waukon, IA, the son of Leroy and Margaret (Schutz) Colsch. He attended schools in the Waukon area and received his GED through Job Corp, along with taking courses in heavy equipment and in mechanics. On April 16, 1988 he married Gail Starks in Denton County, TX. Kenneth worked as a landscaper for SODCO in Spring Grove, MN. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working on cars and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Gail; a son, Jesse; a daughter, Heather (fiance' Josh Burrett) all of Dorchester; a stepson, Brandon Starks of Fresno, TX; his mother, Margaret of Lansing; 7 brothers, Charlie (Debbie) of Monona, Lyle of Dorchester, Dan of Holmen, WI, Paul of Marquette, John (Jeane) of Hohka, MN, Jim of Black Hammer, MN and Don of Harmony, MN; 6 sisters, Karen Thomas of Harrisburg, NC, Anita (Steve) VonArx of St. Charles, MN, Chris (Arman) Kindschy of Dodge Center, MN, Madonna Baker of Sparta, WI, Carol (Larry) Smith of Dorchester and Theresa Colsch of Waukon, IA. He is preceded in death by his father Leroy; 2 brothers, David and Gerald Colsch; and a brother-in-law, David Baker.

Honorary casketbearers are his brothers. Casketbearers are Jake and Bill Colsch, Shawn Murphy, Jerry Goeke, Mike Beardmore and Matt Hockins.
