Kathleen Ann Stewart

October 25, 1942 — April 20, 2008

Kathleen A. Stewart, 65, of Harpers Ferry, IA, formerly of Prairie du Chien, WI and Waterloo, IA, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 24th, at 1:30 PM at St. Ann's - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, IA, with Fr. Louis Trzil officiating. Friends may call from 12:30 PM until time of service on Thursday at the church.


Kathleen Ann Stewart was born on October 25, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of William Patrick and Sally (Smith) O'Brien. She attended West Waterloo High School in Waterloo and graduated from Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, IA in 1960. On September 6, 1963 she married Lowell Stewart in Des Moines, IA. Kathleen worked for Santa Claus Industries, John Deere Tractor Works and ASI Computer all in Waterloo. Kathleen and Lowell moved to Prairie du Chien, WI in 1993, where she worked at the 3M Company and Cabela's. They moved to rural Harpers Ferry, IA in 2005.


Kathleen was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien and was a member of St. Ann's - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry. She enjoyed reading, traveling, visiting wineries and collecting sea shells from the ocean. Special times with her family and following her grandchildren's activities were very important to her. Kathleen loved cats and dogs, especially her dog Poogan.


Survivors include her husband, Lowell of Harpers Ferry, IA; her son, Daniel (Brooke) Stewart of Hermosa Beach, CA; 2 daughters, Robyn Stewart and her partner Shannon Massey of Portland , OR, and Courtney Stewart of Ida Grove, WI; her grandchildren; Lane, Lowell, Megan and Steven Stewart and Emily Kapinus; her great-grandson, Steven George Duha; and a cousin, Patsy Van Dover of Charlotte, NC.


She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William O'Brien.


Honorary casketbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandson.
