Katherine Louise Plein

Katherine "Kathie" L. Plein, 43, of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Gundersen Health Care System in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 12th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call one hour before services on Monday at the church. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Katherine Louise Plein was born March 4, 1978, in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Francis "Frank" and Helen (Van Note) Plein. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. Kathie attended St. Patrick Catholic School through the 6th grade and graduated from Waukon High School in 1996. She worked as a CNA at Northgate Care Center in Waukon.

Kathie was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was involved with activities at TASC. She enjoyed doing crafts, decorating her home during the holidays, and spending time with her family. Kathie was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan.

Survivors include her siblings: Robert Plein of Waukon, Luann (Mike) Kane of Janesville, WI, Connie Schneden and Sheila (Mark) Pladsen, both of Waukon, IA, Mark Plein and Julie Berney, both of Independence, IA, Bill Plein of Mediapolis, IA, Tom (Tami) Plein of Burlington, IA, and Margaret Palmer of Lake Havasu City, AZ; her best friend Melanie Cahoon; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Patrick and Michael Plein; and a sister Mary Murphy.

Casketbearers are Bill and Tom Plein, Mark and Gus Pladsen, Michael Kane, and Chris McCartney.
