Judith Rae Roldson was born February 7, 1939, in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Uren) Shogren. Judy was baptized and confirmed at First Baptist Church in Waukon, IA. She attended country schools and graduated from Waukon High School. On September 28, 1956, Judy married Conrad James Roldson at the First Baptist Church in Waukon. Besides being a busy wife and mother, Judy was involved in all aspects on the farm: raising livestock and chickens, doing fieldwork, and baling hay. In 1985, they quit farming; Judy then did daycare for the neighboring children. In 1990, they moved to Waukon and Judy waitressed at the Dairy-O for many years.
Judy was a member of the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in Waterville, where she and Conrad were custodians for many years; she was also involved with the Priscilla Circle and was the financial secretary of the church. She enjoyed gardening, doing word searches, playing cards, and liked to joke around. Judy loved to read, both to herself and grandchildren. She and Conrad also enjoyed traveling around the country and going on drives. Judy was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Judy is survived by her five children: Cindy (Tom) Duvel and Rita (John) Erickson, both of Waukon, Donna (Kenneth) Palmer and Barbara (Scott) Melcher, both of Harpers Ferry, IA, and John (Dorothy) Roldson of Waukon; eight grandchildren: Josh, Jenni, and Maria Erickson, Levi Palmer, Jessie Sweeney, Amanda Voight, and Patricia and Mary Melcher; nine great-grandchildren: Clayton Palmer, Landon Davidson, Dawson, Corbyn, and Holten Palmer, Raymond and Elliot Sweeney, and Trinity and Jada Prostman; two sisters-in-law: Ruby Kloke of Waukon and Doris Shogren of Louisana; and many nieces and nephews.
