Joyce A. Snitker, 76, of Frankville, IA, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28th, at 11:00 AM at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon, with Pastor Keith Selberg officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery in rural Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Joyce Ann Snitker was born on July 6, 1934 in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Tennis Alfred and Esther Alice (Gjefle) Kolsrud. She was baptized and confirmed at the West Paint Creek Synod Lutheran Church in rural Waukon. Joyce attended Waterville Elementary School and Waterville High School. On January 4, 1952 she married Lloyd Snitker at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon. Joyce worked at Wapsi Produce in Decorah, IA, Gary's Golden Nugget in Frankville and retired from Northern Engraving in Waukon in 2004. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and its ladies circles. Joyce enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, working in her flower garden and spending time with her family, her sister-in-laws and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd of Frankville; her children, Scott (Barbara) Snitker of Utah, Steve (Mary Beth) Snitker of Postville, Sharon (Jeff) Feickert of Frankville, Sheryl (Joe) Huinker of Ossian, Brian (Lisa) Snitker of Postville and Brad Snitker of Frankville; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Sue Kolsrud of Hazleton. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James.
Honorary casketbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Casketbearers are Jeremy, Darrick, Nicholas and Drew Snitker, Travis Feickert and Corey Huinker.
