Joseph F. Stone, 47, of Waukon, IA, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6th, at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Christopher Staley officiating. Burial with military rites will be held in Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, IA. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Joseph Francis Stone was born on May 8, 1958, in Waukon, the son of Neil and Kay (Walters) Stone. He attended Waterville Elementary School and Charles City High School. He later received his GED. Joe served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Riley, KS. On September 16, 2000 he married Susan Bollman in an outdoor wedding ceremony near the Upper Iowa River in rural Decorah. Joe did carpentry work, bridge work and drove truck for JB Holland Construction for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Joe also enjoyed mushroom hunting, hiking, playing pool, camping and spending time on the Mississippi River.

Survivors include his wife, Sue of Waukon; 3 daughters, Jenny Hadacek of Mason City, IA, Liz (Nathan) Hearn of Dumont, IA, and Rebecca Plummer of Iowa City, IA; 4 step-children, Heather Goeke, Niki, Megan and Lucas Jones; his mother, Kay (Wallace) Godden all of Waukon; 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Deb Green and Tina Folsom both of Waukon; 2 brothers, Tim Clark of Waukon and Gary Clark of Winslow, AR. He is preceded in death by his father, Neil Stone; a sister, Faith Stone; his paternal grandparents, Hershel and Julia Stone and maternal grandparents, Harold and Leona Walters.
