John G. Forbes Jr., 46, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14th, at 11:00 AM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
John Gary Forbes, Jr. was born September 30, 1968, in Waterloo, IA, the son of John and Shirley (Allen) Forbes. He married Sarah Gambrell; they later divorced. John was self-employed and owned his own trucking company. He also worked for Canton River Towing and ADM Barge, where he worked his way up to captain. John adored his family and loved doing fun things with his children. He also liked NASCAR, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
John is survived by his parents John and Shirley Forbes of Harpers Ferry, IA; his son Devan Forbes of Harpers Ferry; twin sons: John and Tyler Forbes of Waukon; two brothers: Mark (Teresa) Forbes of Postville, IA, and Mike (Gina) Forbes of Oelwein, IA; three stepchildren: Leiah Gambrell, Whitney Carpenter, and Donovon Bruns; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wayne and Lillian Allen and Lemuel and Mary Forbes; and many aunts and uncles.
Honorary casketbearers are Troy Hansmeier and Matt Hawkins.
