John W. Brazell, 90, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Thornton Manor in Lansing, IA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 12th, at 11:30 AM at St. Ann's - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Paint Rock Cemetery, in Harpers Ferry. Friends may call from 10:30 AM until the time of service Thursday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, is handling the arrangements.
John William Brazell was born August 3, 1923, in Harpers Ferry, IA, the son of Leo and Mabel (Markwardt) Brazell. He was baptized and confirmed at St Ann's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry. John graduated from Harpers Ferry High School in 1941. He farmed his entire life in the Harpers Ferry area.
Survivors include his brother Harold (Monnie) Brazell of Cedar Rapids, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Maurice and Norbert Brazell.
Casketbearers are Kevin, Brian, Mark, and Steve Brazell, Tom Green, and Dick Saddler.
