Jim E. Nagel, 82, of Waukon, IA, died Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23rd, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 AM until the time of services Monday at church. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.
James "Jim" Edward Nagel was born June 17, 1941, in Waukon, IA, the son of Edward and Aurelia (Stock) Nagel. He attended Waukon schools. On February 23, 1963, he married Mary Sweeney at St. Mary's Lycurgus Catholic Church in rural Waukon. For over 50 years, Jim worked for Quandahl's Food Ranch in Waukon.
Family was very important to Jim; he loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his yard and scratching lotto tickets. Jim collected guns, coins, stamps, marbles, dominos, and comic books. He was an all-around great guy, always very generous, kind, and had a positive word to say about everyone.
Survivors include his wife Mary of Waukon; his children: Darcy (Joe) Welsh, Deb (DJ) Regan, Vicky (Herb) Behrend, Jim (Connie) Nagel, and Jody (Bob) Regan; 11 grandsons: Matt (Sarah) Welsh, Mark Welsh, Seth (Mullen) Beisker, Cody (Megan) Beisker, Josh Regan, Joe (Abby) Regan, Bill and Alex Behrend, Brent (Brooke) Regan, Blake (Katelyn) Regan, and Brandon (Viviana) Regan: six granddaughters: Leah Welsh, Audrey (Harry) Regan Leavitt, Nicole (Desmond) Decker, Marissa (Ian) Anderson, Miranda (Spencer) Nagel, and Hailey (Devin) Regan; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother Don (Connie) Nagel of Waukon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Roland (Mary) Nagel, and a sister Sylvia (Keith) Bennington.
Honorary casketbearers are Jim's granddaughters. Casketbearers are his grandsons.
