Jim L. Egan, 57, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at his home in rural Harpers Ferry, IA. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19th, at 11:00 AM at St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound in rural Harpers Ferry, with Fr. Louis Trzil and Fr. Bernard Grady officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound in rural Harpers Ferry where there will be a 3:00 pm scripture service. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family with arrangements.

James Leo Egan was born April 21, 1952 in Waukon, IA, the son of John and Myrtle (Delaney) Egan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound in rural Harpers Ferry and attended Waterville School, graduated from Waukon High School in 1970. Jim worked at Meadowland Dairy and the Waukon Veterinary Clinic for several years. He farmed with his brother Jerry in Linton Township rural Harpers Ferry, where they raised dairy cows and grain. Jim was a lifetime member of St. Pius Catholic Church Cherry Mound.

Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Egan of Waukon; 7 brothers, John (Deb) Egan of Luana, IA, Gary (Cindy) Egan of Waukon, IA, Joe (Mary) Egan of Waterville, IA, Pat (Sarah) Egan of Monona, IA, Mark (Lori) Egan of Waukon, IA, Mike (Laurie) Egan of Monona, IA and Jerry Egan of Waterville, IA; and a sister, Judy (Bruce) Cliff of Patch Grove, WI; 27 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, Tom Rose of Monona, IA. He is preceded in death by his father, John and a sister, Catherine Rose.

Casketbearers are Brian, Chad, Pat, Colin and Michael Egan, Dan Rose, Jason Cliff and Jeff Mennen.
