Jerre Henthorn

Jerre Jean Henthorn, 80, of Waukon, IA, died Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 14th , at 11:00 AM at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with burial at Oakland Cemetery.

Jerre Jean Henthorn was born August 7, 1943, in Richland Center, WI, the daughter of Gerald and Eva (Williams) Henthorn. She attended Chore Elementary and graduated from Readstown High School; she then attended Vernon County Teachers College for two years. Jerre received her teaching certificate from UW-Platteville and her special education endorsement from UNI in Cedar Falls, IA. Jerre taught 3rd and 4th grades in Postville, IA, for five years before becoming a special education teacher at Waukon Junior High for 38 years. In 1983, she met Gregory A. Thiele and they were together until Greg's death in 2021.

She and Greg were swap meet vendors and enjoyed going to the different meets. Jerre liked to travel and visited Europe and Australia; she also traveled with Greg and his sister Ellen. Jerre loved going out to eat and visiting with her many friends as well.

Jerre is survived by her sister Nancy (Ronald) Castle of Thomasboro, IL; nieces Teresa and Christina; three great-nieces; four great-nephews; and her many friends in Waukon. She was preceded in death by her parents and significant other Greg Thiele.
