Jean Gallagher

Jean R. Gallagher, 66, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, March 6, 2020, at Lake View Health Center in West Salem, WI. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 11th, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call one hour before the services on Wednesday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Jean R. Gallagher was born December 15, 1953, in Bronx, New York. She graduated from Mt. Miguel High School in Spring Valley, CA, in 1971. On June 8, 1974, she married Mike Gallagher in San Diego, CA. They were later divorced. Jean worked as a CNA/CMA for many years in the Waukon and Decorah area. She loved being a caretaker and found lots of joy and happiness when she was taking care of the residents where she worked. All the way up until the end of her life she enjoyed helping others and helped other residents and also volunteered at Lake View Health Center in West Salem, WI.

Jean loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music, working in her garden, walking, playing golf, and loved ice cream.

Survivors include her children: Shannon (Kim) Bernatz of Waukon, Mike (Laurel) Gallagher, Jr., of Great Falls, MT, John (Amanda) Gallagher of Stoddard, WI, and Andrew Gallagher of Waukon; five grandchildren: Robert and David Susterick, and Ashton, Laurice, and Piper Gallagher; two sisters: Bonnie (Joe) McCord of Longview, TX, and Jane Slepitis of Grand Junction, CO, and many nieces and nephews.

Honorary casketbearers are Jean's grandchildren.
