Jay Schneider

Jay A. Schneider, 71, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his home in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 6th, at 1:00 PM at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Inurnment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Waukon. Friends may greet the family from 12:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home on Thursday.

Jay Allen Schneider was born December 27, 1954, in Iowa to parents Lloyd and Helen (Hartong) Schneider. He was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. Jay graduated from Waukon High School in 1973, and attended NIACC in Mason City for a degree in auto mechanics. On July 10, 1976, he married Kristie Kellison at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, and they later divorced. Jay worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon for a few years and then drove truck for Croell Redi-Mix for 40 plus years. He also drove school bus for the Allamakee Community School District. Jay enjoyed watching movies, wood working, riding motorcycle, and taking care of his cats.

Survivors include his son Kevin Schneider of Waukon; his sister Lori (Bruce) Bruns of Charles City, IA; two grandchildren: Brandi and Brandon Schneider; and a great-grandson Zayden Schneider. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary urnbearer is Jim Needham and Jay's son Kevin will serve as urnbearer.
