Janet S. Baumgartner, 51, of Waukon, IA, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, IA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Janet Sue Baumgartner was born on July 30, 1955 in Waukon, the daughter of Dale Lloyd and Carol N. (Gilson) Reeder. She was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church. Janet graduated from Waukon High School in 1973 and from NICC in Calmar, IA, in 1975 with a degree in cosmetology. She married John C. Baumgartner on April 20, 1974 at First Presbyterian Church. Janet worked for area salons in Waukon for several years. From 1980 to 1996 she owned and operated Janet's Hair Affair. She was forced to retire due to her long fight with Schleraderma disease. Janet was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, riding bike and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Janet had a group of family and friends that she would get together for birthday club. She would bring the cakes or desserts for everybody to enjoy.
Survivors include her husband, John of Waukon; her children, Jodi (Rodney) Ihde of Fennimore, WI, Joshua of Decorah, IA, Jill (Olaf) Johnson of Waukon, Jason of Decorah and Jayme of Waukon; 6 grandchildren, Morgan, Avery and Spencer Ihde, Kern, Laney and Liza Johnson; 3 brothers, Dean (Linda) Krambeer of Pine Island, MN, Ken (Gloria) Krambeer and Brad (Bev) Krambeer both of Waukon; and a sister, Kim Sylvester of Waukon. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lana Anderson and a brother-in-law, Dennis Sylvester.
Honoary casketbearers were her grandchildren. Casketbearers were Steve Butler, Darrell Baumgartner, Mike Cooper, Cody Sylvester, Mike and Bradley Krambeer.
