James "Jim" Francis O'Neill

Jim O'Neill, 73, of Waukon, IA passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at his home in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21st at 11:00 AM at St. Pat's Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Wexford Cemetery in rural Lansing. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon where there will be a 3:30 PM scripture service.

James Francis "Jim" O'Neill was born August 21, 1949, in Decorah, IA, the son of Steve and Eleanor (Mullarkey) O'Neill. He was baptized and confirmed at Wexford Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in rural Lansing, IA, and graduated from St. George Catholic School in Lansing in 1967. December 5, 1970, he married Susan Marti at Wexford Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wexford. Jim retired from his lifelong career at J.F. Brennan Company in 2011. Retirement years led to development of Wexford Valley Campground.

Jim was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. He enjoyed golfing, owning and operating his campground, and daily visits with the campers and visitors. Jim loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Survivors include his wife Sue of Waukon; his children: Laurie (Mike) Keith of Rochester, MN, Lisa (Darren) Snitker of Spring Valley, MN, and Lacy (Dan) Lloyd of Harpers Ferry, IA; his grandchildren: Maddie, Sam, and Max Snitker and Cashton, Caidee, Cael, Carlei, and Cami Lloyd; his siblings: John O'Neill of Lansing, Mary (Jim) Winters of Waukon, and Pat (Sally) O'Neill of Harpers Ferry. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Mary O'Neill, and nephew Joe O'Neill.

Honorary casketbearers are Jim's grandchildren. Casketbearers are Reggie Curtin, Luke Howard, Terry Kolsrud and Jim's Godchildren: Tom O'Neill, Brian O'Neill and Shay Curtin.
