Herman Julius Iverson Sr.

Herman J. Iverson Jr., 95, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23rd at 11:00 am at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, IA, with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Herman Julius Iverson Jr., was born on October 11, 1911 in Paint Creek Township rural Waterville, IA, the son of Herman N. and Josephine (Nelson) Iverson Sr. Herman was baptized and confirmed at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church and graduated from Waterville High School in 1930. On March 8, 1943 he married Margaret L. Kehr in Lansing, IA. He farmed in Paint Creek Township for many years. Herman was a good farmer, hard worker and an honest man. He took great pride in maintaining his John Deere tractors. Herman was a life time member of Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church. He enjoyed dancing, snow skiing, trapping and playing cards.

Survivors included a daughter, Jean (Glenn) Martin of Denver, PA; a son, Wayne (Nancy) Iverson of Lampeter, PA; 4 grandchildren, Brenda, Brian, Tracy Jo and Timothy; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Earl (Vivian) Iverson of Waterville, IA; 2 sisters, Muriel Bakkum of Waukon and Darlene Cecchetti of Cheswick, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret who died in 1967; 4 brothers, Ordell, Arden, Irvin and an infant brother.
