Helen Faye Libbey

November 10, 1933 — March 22, 2008

Helen F. Libbey, 74, of Lansing, IA, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo, IA. Friends may call from 9:30 am until time of services on Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Memorials may be directed to the Cancer Society.


Helen Faye Libbey was born November 10, 1933 in North Little Rock, AR, the daughter of Frank and Provina (Perin) Otto. She graduated from North Little Rock High School. Helen lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, for two years where she met Basil Jack Libbey Sr., they were married on May 11, 1955 in Honolulu. After they were married they moved to Waterloo, IA, where they lived for over 30 years, and Helen was a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church, the PTA and Waterloo Fire Department Auxiliary. She and Basil moved to rural Lansing in 1989, where they spent their summers and enjoyed their winters in Alamo, TX. Helen enjoyed fishing, camping, playing shuffle board and following her grand-children's school activities.


Survivors include her children, Jack (Dixie) Libbey of Lansing, IA, Mike (Victoria) Libbey of Burlington, WI and Sandy (Bill) Lloyd of Harpers Ferry, IA; 9 grandchildren; a special friend, Vernon Mortensen of Royal, IA; a brother, Frank (Elaine) Otto of North Little Rock, AR and a half-sister, Pauline Healy, Ft Smith, AR. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Basil "Buzz" Libbey who died in 2000; a sister, Ruby Justice; 3 half-brothers, Jack, Camet and Gordon Otto an a half-sister, Joy Crayton.


Honorary casketbearers are her grandchildren, Travis, Nathan, Heather, Emily and Kristina Libbey, Nic, Billy, Timmy and Joe Lloyd
