Glenn M. Cooper, 66, of Waukon, IA, died Sunday, October 25, 2009, at home in rural Waukon. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30th, at 11:00 AM at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with Rev. Keith Selberg officiating. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Glenn Martin Cooper was born on August 25, 1943 in Waukon, IA, the son of Donald and Florence (Nolting) Cooper. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon and attended rural country school in the Waukon area, graduated from Waukon High School and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA. Glenn farmed with his father in Union Prairie Township. On June 20, 1964 he married Janice Baumgartner at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon. Together they farmed in Union Prairie Township, raising dairy cows, hogs and crops until 1995. Glenn was an Allamakee County Deputy Sheriff from 1973 to 1986. He also owned and drove semi for several years. Glenn worked for Waldvogel Trucking and hauled whey for local creameries from 1999 to 2003.

He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Iowa State Deputies Association and was a past volunteer for the Waukon Pioneer Fire Company. Glenn enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, traveling, cooking and following NASCAR. He also enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Cooper of Waukon, 4 sons, Kevin (Karen) Cooper of Waukon and their children, Alyssa, Leah and Garrett, Craig (friend Samantha Sturgeon and her daughter Savannah) Cooper of Medford, OR, Mike (Tina) Cooper of Waukon and their children, Garth and McKenzie, and Mark (Kelly) Cooper of Dubuque and their children, Katrina and Brady; 2 nephews, Jeff Moen of Baxter, MN and Tony Moen of Goodridge, MN; and a friend and caregiver, Cheryl Nagel of Waukon. He is preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Richard and Kenneth Cooper.
