Gene L. Scott, 74, of Waukon, IA, formerly of Lansing, IA, died Monday, August 3, 2020, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, IA. Gene was cremated and burial will be held at a later date. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family.
Gene Leroy Scott was born April 9, 1946, in Bloomington, WI, the son of Lynn E. and Pearl Agatha (Hoban) Scott. He was baptized and confirmed through the Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, WI, and graduated from Prairie du Chien High School. From 1965-1968, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Gene worked as a truck driver for a cheese factory and was also a social worker. On September 24, 2011, Gene married Lois Adell Knickerbocker at the community center in Lansing, IA. A creative guy, Gene loved to draw, build things, and do woodworking. He loved both his family and pets dearly.
He is survived by his wife Lois of Waukon, IA; his five children: Lynn Earl Scott, Debbie (Levon) Vargas, Suzanne (Brian) Barela, Tracey (Larry) Trujillo, and Patrick Scott, all of New Mexico; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of New Mexico; nieces and nephews: Wally (Chris) Ellefson of Waukon, LaVern (Kim) Timmerman of Lansing, IA, Frank Garrow of Holmen, WI, and Jeremy (Melissa) Jones of Cresco, IA; and great-nieces and nephews: Kai and Zoey Timmerman, Gabby, Avery, and Frankie Garrow, Grace Jones, and Alex, Hannah, and Jonathan Harper.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; niece Brenda Harper; and nephew Troy Timmerman.
