Gaylen B. Snitker, 62, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, July 15, 2022, at his home in rural Waukon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23rd, at 11:00 AM at Salem United Church of Christ with Pastor Sue Klimstra officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday at Martin - Grau Funeral Home in Waukon. Masks are required for the visitation and the service.
Gaylen Bradley Snitker was born April 9, 1960, in Waukon, IA, the son of Howard and Viola (Moen) Snitker. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon and graduated from Waukon High School in 1978. Gaylen farmed with his father and brother in Ludlow Township, where they milked cows and raised hogs, beef cows, and crops. After farming, he worked at Yellowstone National Park for a time and then worked at ski resorts in Keystone and Vail, CO. He loved to ski and could either ski or take the gondola to work.
Gaylen was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and sang in the choir; Gaylen loved music and had a great singing voice. He enjoyed traveling, especially with his cousin Carol. They had many awesome trips including skiing at Whistler in Canada and in Switzerland. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was very proud of his niece and nephews.
Survivors include his siblings: Allan "Greg" (Lisa) Snitker of Postville, IA, and Glenda (Lawrence) Green of Hampton, IA; his nieces and nephews: Karsten (Katie) Snitker of Tiffin, OH, Korey (special friend Samantha Meyer) Snitker of Waukon, Trevor Green of Nevada, IA, and Kierra Green of Johnston, IA; and his dog Rosie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Casketbearers are Lawrence Green, Korey, Karsten, and Larry Snitker, and Randy and Brady Kruger.
