Francis "Frank" H. Saddler, 81, of Harpers Ferry, IA, died Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Thornton Manor in Lansing, IA. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 10th, at 10:30 AM at St. Ann's - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry with Fr. Sean Smith officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Paint Rock Cemetery, Harpers Ferry. Friends may call from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM Sunday at the Harpers Ferry Community Center. In consideration of concerns regarding Covid-19, social distancing and wearing of masks is encouraged. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Condolences may be sent to Betty Palmer at P.O. Box 121, Harpers Ferry, IA 52146.

Francis Henry Saddler was born August 22, 1938, in Harpers Ferry, IA, the son of Joseph and Viola (Crowley) Saddler. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, attended Oil Springs Country School, and graduated from Harpers Ferry High School in 1956. On June 30, 1962, he married Bonnie Ann DeLong at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor. They lived near West Union until 1967 and then returned to Harpers Ferry. Frank was a mechanic for Pat's Mobil Station in Harpers Ferry before working at Interstate Power Company/Alliant Energy in Lansing, retiring in 1998.

He was a lifelong member of St. Ann's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry. As a kid, he belonged to the Boy Scouts of America. Frank was also a member of the Harpers Ferry Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Harpers Ferry City Council, and belonged to the Iowa Ruffed Grouse Society, where he served as a committee member. He loved spending time with family and friends, hosting fish fries and game feeds in his garage, traveling, and hunting.

Survivors include his children: Joe (Cindy) Saddler of Waukon, Ann Slaght of McGregor, Bill (Julie) Saddler of Harpers Ferry, and Betty (Dave) Palmer of Harpers Ferry; nine grandchildren: Ben (Kristina), Alex (Tayt), Jason (Alè), Jayme (Heather), Makenzie, Michael (Miki), Samantha (Charles), Leo, and Bonnie; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother Dick (Donna) Saddler of Harpers Ferry; a sister Marge (Mark) Delaney of Harpers Ferry; and a sister-in-law Dolly (Denny) Dryer of Bella Vista, AR. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bonnie, who died in 2003; and two sisters: Marie Koenig and Joan Lloyd.

Honorary casketbearers are Ron Cota, Ron Davis, Pat Delaney, Don Gavin, Greg Hastings, Joe Hogan, Jim Norman, and Steve Pixley. Casketbearers are Bob Saddler, Bill Lloyd, Ed Koenig, Ron Delaney, Clem and Dan Schulte, and Mike and Tom Hart.
