Ellen Mathis

Ellen B. Mathis, 59, of Waukon, IA, died Thursday, October 29, 2020, at her home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon. In consideration of concerns regarding Covid-19, social distancing and wearing of masks is encouraged.

Ellen Beth Mathis was born April 11, 1961, in Storm Lake, IA, the daughter of Dr. Leon and Marian (Bittinger) Heike. As a little girl, Ellen and her family moved to Waukon, IA, where she graduated from high school. She then went to on the earn her business degree from NICC in Calmar. Ellen worked as a paralegal and also worked in the Allamakee County Courthouse.

She liked being outside, especially at the family cabin in Cub Lake, WI. Ellen enjoyed being on the river, going boating, kayaking, and 4-wheeling. She enjoyed taking her dog for walks and just loved animals in general. Ellen loved going out and having fun with her friends.

Ellen is survived by her two sons: Dan (Alicia Fink) Mathis and Craig Mathis, both of Waukon; her granddaughter Mila; and two sisters: Diana Dudley and Val Heike. She was preceded in death by her parents.
