Eileen B. Hammon, 79, of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19th, at 10:00 AM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Eileen Betty Hammon was born July 25, 1930 on her parent's farm in Ludlow Township rural Postville, IA, the daughter of Lynn Mayhue and Daisy Clara (Thornton) Livingood. She was baptized and confirmed at Forest Mills United Methodist Church in rural Postville and attended the Little Red School House in Ludlow Township and Waukon High School. On February 25, 1950 she married Roger Honn at Forest Mills United Methodist Church. They farmed together in the rural Rossville area for several years. She and Roger owned and operated Honn's Clothing Store in Waukon for many years and Honn's Garage in Waterville, IA. They were later divorced. On June 16, 1984 she married Francis Speth in Waukon. Francis died in 1986. Eileen managed the Vets Club and the Village Inn Motel both in Waukon for many years. On June 18, 1988 she married Charles Hammon at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Eileen and Charles lived on Heytmanns Landing in rural Lansing, IA.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Lansing and was a 4H leader. Eileen enjoyed baking cakes for weddings, working puzzles, fishing, playing bingo, taking care of her vegetable and flower garden. Her favorite times were spent with her family.
Survivors include her children, Steve Honn, Debbie Honn both of Waukon and Kevin (Kim) Honn of Center Point, IA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Les (JoAnn) Livingood of Lansing, IA and a sister, Lynnette (Ron) Heilig of Colfax, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Francis and Charles who died in 1993; a daughter, Cathy Miller, 2 sons, Brian David Honn and John Lear.
Casketbearers are Chad and Jason Troendle, Cody and Clinton Honn, Jeremy Hogan, Jamie Cahalan, Chris Crawfard and Ben Seibert.
