Edmund P. Anderson, 98, of Lansing, IA, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at his home in rural Lansing, IA. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6th, at 1:00 PM at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing, with Pastor Danny Volbrecht officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon and on Friday one hour before the services at the church.
Edmund Peter Anderson was born on July 12, 1913 in Center Township rural Waterville, IA, the son of John and Hannah (Johnson) Anderson. He attended rural country school in the Waukon area and graduated from Waukon High School in 1932. Edmund started a trucking business in 1935. On September 7, 1938 he married Harriet R. Ahlstrom at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. In 1939 they moved to a farm in Center Township rural Lansing, IA, where he built their house. Edmund and Harriet did general farming for many years before selling the farm to their daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Mike Klees in 1993. Edmund also drove school bus for the Allamakee rural school system and for the Waukon School District and did some custom spraying for area farmers.
Edmund was a member of Center Baptist Church where he served as a lifetime Deacon and did the general maintenance for many years. He enjoyed doing carpentry work, making furniture, horseback riding, traveling, listening to music and watching and feeding birds. His favorite times was when he was with his family especially the little children.
Survivors include his children, Doris (Dave) Anderson of Lansing and Gordon (Karen) Anderson of Waterville, IA; 8 Grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Mike Klees Lansing; a sister-in-law, Anita Anderson of DeWitt, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Harriet who died in 1993; 3 daughters, Sonya Lynn and Beverly Kay Anderson and Elizabeth Klees; 5 brothers, Charles, Edgar, Robert, Clifford and Herbert Anderson and a sister, Grace Klingzell.
Casketbearers are Mitch Anderson, Terry Anderson, Erik Lawson, Dave Enyart Sr., Dave Enyart Jr., Tyler Wohlert, Dustin Enyart, Daniel Enyart and Chad Anderson.
