Dorothy "Jan" Theis

Dorothy J. Theis, 85, of Macomb, Illinois passed away on Monday July 31, 2023 at The Lamoine Retirement Living. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 4th, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating. Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Janice Theis was born November 23, 1937, in Plover, Iowa to Francis and Veronica (Miller) Forey. She married John Everett Theis on June 30, 1973, in West Bend, Iowa.

Jan graduated from Buena Vista College with a BS in Elementary Education. She taught in West Bend, IA, Twin Cities, MN, and country of Venezuela and Macomb, IL. She owned and operated Kids Korner Preschool in Macomb for 19 Years. Jan was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church where she had served as an usher and as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also active in St. Paul Women's Guild.

Jan is survived by five step-sons: Steve Theis of Colfax, IA, Michael (Sue) Theis of Newton, IA, Kevin (Janelle) Theis of Waverly, IA, Joel (Joni) Theis of Colchester, IL, and Timothy (Sandy) Theis of Pinson, AL; 14 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great grandchildren; a sister Margaret Hartman of West Bend, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; two nieces and two nephews.
