Donald "Jim" J. Hyde, 76, of New Albin, IA, formerly of Dubuque, IA, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 31st, at 11:00 AM at the Edgewood City Cemetery, Edgewood, IA. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Tuesday at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin, IA. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Donald James Hyde was born September 1, 1938, in Oelwein, IA, the son of Donald James and Eleanor (Cole) Hyde. He was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in Edgewood, IA. Jim graduated from Elkader Central Community High School and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959. Jim worked at the John Deere Dubuque Works in Dubuque, IA, until he retired in 1996. He then moved to New Albin, IA. He was a member of the Waukon and La Crosse Harley Davidson H.O.G. Chapters, where he served as a past president and the editor of their newsletters and articles. He was also a member of Abate of Iowa. Jim enjoyed touring on his motorcycle throughout the U.S., hunting, fishing, and working in his flower and vegetable gardens.

Survivors include his children: Deanna (Gilbert) Rivera of Naples, FL, Donna (Randy Meyer) Hyde of Dubuque, IA, Dana (Terry) Havertape of Hazel Green, WI, Debbie (Joel) Sperry of Port Richey, FL, and John (Jamie) Hyde of Albia, IA; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister Marilyn Zezulka of New Albin, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law Robert Zezulka; and a special friend Linda Sires.

Casketbearers are Charlie, Cole, and Emily Hyde, Larry Harmon, Dan Mooney, Randy Meyer, and Terry Havertape.
