Delores P. Martin, 83, of Rochester, MN, formerly of Dorchester, IA, died Thursday, December 10, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14th, at 12:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, with Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burial will be held in Dorchester Methodist Cemetery, Dorchester. Friends may call one hour before services on Monday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Delores Pauline Martin was born on April 14, 1926 in Redfield, SD, the daughter of Fay and Helen Julia (Goodale) Fleming. She attended elementary school in Marshall, MN and Pipestone, MN, and graduated from high school in Portland, OR in 1944. On March 4, 1944 she married Chester Martin in Greeley, CO. Delores worked at the Argus Camera Company and later at Control Data in Spring Grove, MN. She also worked as a cook for the Dorchester School. Delores moved back to Portland, in 1978 where she worked at Farmers Insurance Company, before retiring to Rochester, MN in 1991. She enjoyed crocheting, jig saw puzzles, working word puzzles and she was an avid reader.
Survivors include a son, Roger (Kathy) Martin of Rochester, MN; 2 grandchildren, Kari (Craig) Ratz and their children, Alexander, Julia and Andrew (Drew) of Lino Lakes, MN and Brian (Sarah) Martin and their daughter Sophia of Appleton, MN; and a sister, Kathleen (Michael) Alderson of Sandy, OR. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester who died in 1977; a daughter, Sheryl Martin; a sister, Shirley O'Neel and a brother, Jerry Fleming.
Casketbearers are Craig Ratz, Brian, Walter and Kermit Martin, Duane Wenig and David Dunnum.
