Delores Ann Waters Lahmeyer, 74, of Lansing, IA, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 3rd, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, IA, with Fr. Gene Kutsch officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing. Friends may call from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday at Kerndt Brothers Community Center in Lansing where there will be a Parish Scripture Service at 8:00 PM. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA, is handling arrangements.
Delores Ann Lahmeyer was born April 29, 1936 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Everett and Leona (Nierling) Waters. She grew up in Lansing and attended area schools. In 1954 she married Earl Wohlers; they later divorced. For many years Delores was a nanny in the Chicago area. In 2000 she moved from Elmhurst, IL, to her home along the river in Lansing where she enjoyed watching all the river activity. Delores was a member of her church choir both in Elmhurst and Lansing. In her spare time Delores made greeting cards, read, cooked, sewed, did embroidery and collected a large number of angels that filled her house.
Survivors include her children, Debra (Frank) Catalano of Elmhurst, IL, Robert Wohlers of Wilkesboro, NC, Cheryl (Dean) Godfrey of Macon, GA, Michael Wohlers of Wilkesboro, NC, Tammy (Bobby) Watts of Duluth, GA, Bruce (Vicky) Wohlers of Sharpsberg, GA, Rebecca (Ronnie) Campbell of Columbus, GA, and Shawn Lahmeyer of Largo, FL; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Virginia Knuppe of New Albin, IA, Shirley (Dennis) Stollenwerk of Rogers, MN, Jim (Betty) Waters of Edgewood, NM, and Everett (Connie) Waters of Apple Valley, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Raymond Waters; and 2 grandchildren, Brent Klosterman and Mandy Wohlers.
Casketbearers are Bruce Wohlers, Michael Wohlers, Jamie Waters, Scott Waters, Jason Waters, Brian Stollenwerk and Tim Waters.
