Delores I. Kurth, 76, of Waukon, IA, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10th at 11:00 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon where there will be a 3:30 pm Scripture Service.
Delores Irene Holly Kurth was born on January 31, 1930 on her parent's farm in rural Monona, IA the daughter of Elmer and Irene (Moses) Holly. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. She attended St. Patrick's Catholic School in Monona and graduated from Monona High School in 1948. On May 4, 1949 she married Gilbert Kurth at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. Delores worked as a seamstress in Monona. She and Gilbert farmed for several years in Franklin Township in rural Waukon. Delores helped with all aspects of the farming operation and especially enjoyed taking care of the livestock and their calves. She also enjoyed raising vegetables in her garden.
Delores was a past member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. She was currently a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau and Franklin Township Homemakers. Delores enjoyed visiting with family and friends and also enjoyed listening and dancing to polka and country music. She and Gilbert would travel to Minnesota and Wisconsin for these events.
Survivors include her husband Gilbert of rural Waukon, IA; 4 children, Dr. Steven (Judy) Kurth of Waterville, Elaine (Terry) Grady and Lorin (Siobhan) Kurth, both of Waukon, and Lyle (Brenda) Kurth of Luana; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, Berlin Troendle and Madilyn Kurth; and a brother, Norb (Sylbert) Holly of Harpers Ferry, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Honorary casketbearers are her granddaughters, Meghan, Elizabeth and Ashley Kurth, Brooke Troendle and Paige Iverson. Casketbearers are her grandsons, Chris, Blaine and Ross Kurth, Nate, Brock and Brady Iverson and grandson-in-law, Jason Troendle.
