Debra Ann Zeimet

Debra Ann Zeimet, 57, formerly Waukon, IA, finished her journey Monday, January 16, 2023 at Thornton Manor Nursing Center, Lansing IA, where she spent the last 16 months of her life.

Her pure spirit was born to Adrian and Gloria (Hodgkinson) Zeimet on January 3, 1966, Prairie du Chien, WI. As the youngest, she was welcomed into a home of four brothers and two sisters where she won our love and showed us how to care. Frank (Kim) Zeimet, Kearney, MO, John (Joyce) Zeimet, Camdenton, MO, Robert (Barb) Zeimet, De Soto, WI, Catherine (Robert" Bob") Stevenson, De Soto WI, Kenneth Zeimet, Smithville, MO, Teresa Jandrey (Tim), Gilbert MN.

Deb and her family moved in 1969 to their grandfather, Frank Hurm's Homestead rural farm in Lafayette Township, the WEXFORD area. Deb would ride the school bus route with her siblings and other neighboring students making their way to Lansing Kee High where she would transfer and commute to Decorah, IA, to attend ABNER HENDRICKSON until she was 16 years old. This is where she was learning sign language, and other skills to give her an opportunity at independence. During this time Debra was also competitive in the special Olympics softball throw. She finished school in the Charles City School system.

Moving to Waukon, Debra became part of the community for 30 years, living with roommates at MOSAIC, formerly, Martin Luther Home. During this time she began attending a vocational training, day program at TASC of Waukon. Until her retirement September of 2021.

Debra was a woman who loved to spin and dance to her favorite music, she enjoyed the relaxing touch of a massage, and Deb also loved swimming and the wonder of weightlessness that water allows. 'More' was her well used sign as, "more potatoes, please". She is preceded in death by her parents and special brother-in-law Robert "Bob" Stevenson.

Thanking Thornton Manor in Lansing for giving my sister excellent health care and a loving HOME. Remembering Deb from her childhood, many of the current residents, and caring staff recognized her sweet and easy ways.

Memorials are requested to go to Thornton Manor, Lansing, Iowa or Mosaic, Waukon Iowa.

Welcome for a graveside gathering on Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m. Immaculate Conception, Wexford. Where she will rest alongside her beloved Mother, Gloria. "AND SOON THEY'LL KNOW THEIR PRIVILEGE GIVEN"
