David Lee Schoeberlein was born July 30, 1958, in Fort Dodge, IA, the son of Donald and Viola (Andersen) Schoeberlein. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, both in Humboldt, IA. Dave graduated from Humboldt High School in 1977, and graduated from University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA, where he received his teaching and coaching degrees. On July 11, 1981, he married Janet Peters at First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City, IA. Dave and Janet lived in Havelock-Plover and Danville before moving to Waukon in the summer of 1985.
Dave was a loyal and dedicated person to everyone he had contact with and in everything he did. His number one priority was always his family; being a husband, dad, son, and grandpa were his greatest joys in life. Whatever he did, Dave did it right; whether that was tailgating, golfing, wedding dancing, or loving on his treasured grandbabies. He added humor and well placed sarcasm to every situation. Dave touched many lives through his coaching and teaching career, and he absolutely knew the impact that devoting your days to service had. His family so wishes he could be here to see the positive ripples that he has created throughout his family and community.
Survivors include his wife Janet of Waukon; his two daughters: Jill (Charlie) Folsom of Waukee, IA, and Jenna (Ben) Pressley of Ankeny, IA; four grandchildren: Camille, JJ, and Lydia Folsom, and Quinn Pressley; his mother Viola Schoeberlein of Humboldt, IA; a brother Darrel (Becky) Schoeberlein of Hudson, WI; his mother-in-law Bonnie Peters of Humboldt, IA; two sisters-in-law: Pam (Don) McClannahan of Storm Lake, IA, and Cheryl Peters of Dakota City, IA; a brother-in-law Jim (Angie) Peters of Gilmore City, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Donald and father-in-law Dean Peters.
Honorary casketbearers are all of Dave's players and fellow coaches. Casketbearers are Joe Griffith, Tim Bulman, Jerry Keenan, Mike Shupe, Bob Wasson, Dave Herold, Don Kuennen, and Andy Sires.
